A place to belong, enjoy and grow

Project 5 Senses is a fun, friendly day service for adults with disabilities. We help people try new things, build independence and enjoy their days, and we give families and carers a well-earned break.

What we do

Support that is built around the person

We are a community interest company providing quality, person-centred day care for adults with a range of disabilities. Every day is shaped by the choices, interests and goals of the people who come to us.

Activities at our centres

A planned programme of activities at our houses that lets people learn new skills and build on what they already love doing.

Who we support

Support that fits the person

We support adults with learning disabilities and adults with physical disabilities, in spaces that suit their needs. Where it feels right, everyone comes together for group sessions.

  • Independence, choice and wellbeing at the heart of every day
  • Small, familiar teams who get to know each person
  • Open Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm, with longer hours available where needed
  • Accessible spaces and caring, trained staff

Life skills

Building independence, step by step

Many of the people we support want to do more for themselves, and many families ask us for this kind of help. Our life skills support is built around each person's own goals, at their own pace.

  • Practical skills for everyday life, tailored to the individual
  • Delivered at our houses, alongside the rest of the day
  • Or as a bespoke service in your own home, if that works better

Getting started

How to join us

Most people come to us through their local authority. If you or someone you care for would like to attend, this is how it usually works.

  1. Speak to your social workerAsk for an assessment of your needs, or a review if you already have one.
  2. Agree your personal budgetYour local authority sets a personal budget, often paid as a direct payment. This decides how many days you can attend.
  3. Get in touch and come to meet usTell your social worker you would like to use us, or contact us directly. We will meet the person and invite them to visit one of our houses, so everyone can see if it feels right.
  4. Plan and startTogether we put an individual support plan in place and agree a start date. Longer or bespoke hours can be arranged where needed.

Not sure where to start? Call us on 07940 767393 or use the form below. We are happy to talk it through, and we can arrange a visit.

Social workers and professionals: please get in touch to discuss a referral or to arrange a visit.

For families and carers

A break when you need one

Caring for someone full time is demanding. When your loved one is with us, you know they are safe, looked after and enjoying their day, and you have time to rest, catch up or simply breathe.

We keep in touch with families and take time to understand what matters to each person, so the day we offer works for the whole family.

“A huge thank you for the wonderful, much needed, service you provide. Our son enjoys his time with you and you all make it such a personal experience that he considers you his ‘friends’. A very considerate, caring service, highly recommended!”

What people say

In their own words

The people we support, and their families, tell it best.

“I like coming to 5 Senses to see my friends and staff, I feel happy and I like to try all the new things I have not done before.”
Mr P., attends our service
“I really enjoy going to this group, it has helped me make new friends. All the staff take the time to help us with the daily activities. I'm always laughing now as I absolutely love going to the group. 5 Senses has changed my life as before I would just sit in my bedroom and not go out. I have a purpose to get up now knowing that I'm going to have a good day.”
Daniel M., attends our service
“I think 5 Senses is fab and wonderful, it is like my family. I'm glad I come to 5 Senses because it is fun and makes me happy from day 1.”
Mr S. A., attends our service
“5 Senses is a wonderful environment, it's a safe space to unmask and relax. I look forward to it every week.”

“Anthony is really enjoying his new day care with 5 Senses. Fast forward 3 months and Anthony is really happy there, going for 2 days a week and has now asked to go another day!!! What a difference. A great big thank you to Vicki and Cath and their team for their determination, patience and care you have given Anthony. Thank you, thank you and thank you again.”
Mrs M. S., family member
“5 Senses is an outstanding organisation which offers great support and wellbeing for all its clients. 5 Senses has allowed my son, who is a vulnerable young adult with additional learning difficulties, to interact with other clients that attend within the local community. They offer a wide variety of daily fun activities which my son enjoys getting involved in.”
